Little getaway

At the end of October Brandon had a Thursday night football game so we took advantage of having a weekend to do something and headed to Park City. It was a MUCH needed getaway. We stayed at Hotel Park City which I highly recommend. It was so nice! We Just hung out, shopped and just spent time together which we don't get to do very often with our busy schedules. It was one of the best weekend in a long time.
( no sling on because we just got back from dinner and I realized we didn't take pictures at dinner. hopefully the dumb thing comes off for good on Nov. 24!! if not I'm going to go crazy.)

We went and wondered around Olympic Park. Pretty cool.Brandon wanted to ride the bobsled but it doesn't open until the end of December. Wait that's around my birthday, we might have to make another trip up there. Hint Hint Brandon if you read this!!!!

Now life is back to being busy. This past weekend Brandon's football team won division and now on to semi playoffs, and I had my big primary activity I was in charge of. I'm so bummed I forgot my camera. It turned out so cute. (thanks again Jordan Whitney and Kenzie!!!)
We are keeping busy and have fun.

October

October has been a busy month for us. Brandon has been busy with football and I have been recovering from shoulder surgery. This past weekend my Grandma Gainey was out in pahrump with a bunch of her RV friends from El Monte so we made the trip over the hump to visit with them. It was fun seeing a lot of friends/family we haven't seen in a LONG time. They stay at a real cool RV park with a lake that has paddle boats. We had a blast. Its always fun to spend time with family.

Lehman Caves!

This weekend we took Zack, Whitney, Kenzie & Trevor camping up to Mt Wheeler/ Lehman Caves. We had a blast. We got there on Friday afternoon and started setting up camp and I got really sick. We think that I might have had slight altitude sickness. Headache, dizziness, nausea, vomiting etc, it was not fun. I wanted to die and come home. I felt so bad that I was laying in the tent and not doing anything. After about 3 hours I told Brandon I felt like we should leave. It started to rain and Brandon and the kids hurried and packed everything up, but the tent and air mattress I was on. I didn't want to leave because everyone was so excited and we drove 4 hours to get there. I was crying and all of the sudden I was started to feel better! I told Brandon I was feeling better and didn't want to leave. We went back and forth on whether we should leave or not. Brandon felt we should leave, but I was being a brat. I sat there and wouldn't get out of the tent so they couldn't take it down. Finally, I convinced Brandon that if I wasn't better in the morning we would leave. I'm SO glad I was better in the morning because we ended up having a fun time. I love spending time with my siblings and this time Trevor too.

If you look close you can see a double rainbow. Zack took this while Brandon was trying to get me out of the tent.

This is the campground we stayed at. I forgot to take pictures of our campsite.

We did the Lehman Cave tour. Not going to lie I was scared at first when they shut the door into the cave. I have a fear of being trapped.

We went on a hike to lake Teresa. It was a nice little hike. We wanted to do a longer one but didn't have time before our Cave tour. Friday Brandon also took everyone on another hike but they didn't know where my camera was so no pictures of that.

Saturday was also Kenzie's 12th Birthday!!! We had a little party for her.

All in all it was a great trip. Nice to get out of the heat and had a great time with family. Cant wait until the next camping adventure.

Bruisers new trick and Grandma Gainey's Visit

I went in to my room and found Bruiser has a new trick. He waits until you put a brand new roll of tp on then takes it off the roll for you. Next he hides half of it under the bed. I was so mad! But he is so cute.

Grandma Gainey came to visit for a weekend to plan Zacks graduation trip and we took a break from planning to play the Wii. Grandma was so funny to watch. She was getting way into it. I had to make sure she had the wrist strap on so I didn't have to buy a new TV.

My new Kitchen

In June I had this CRAZY idea to redo my kitchen. I couldn't rip everything out and start over so a few gallons of paint would have to do. We painted the walls yellow and I didn't like the look of the cabinets so thanks to all the DIY blogs I decided to paint them. Let me just say next time I'll will be more then willing to pay the thousand of dollars and have them done by someone else. Brandon told me I was crazy before we started and half way through I was believing him that I was. But I LOVE how they turned out. Pictures don't do it justice. I have always loved the old country look so that's what I went with. I forgot to take pictures of the whole kitchen before I started.

This is what all the cabinets looked like to start with.

Looks like I need to organize.

Paint drying then it started to pour and only lasted 5 minutes. I was so mad.

The finished project!

Probably one of my favorite thing. I found this way cool frame at an antique shop but it was broken. I took it to Grandpa and he fixed it for me. Now I have a cute magnet board to put pictures and you all know how much I LOVE picture! If you send me one this is where it will be displayed.(hint hint, send'em my way!)

Next project: the guest bathroom!

June Vacation

Brandon and I took a trip down to Santa Monica to hang out by the beach and hit up a Dodger vs Braves game. All in all it was a way fun trip except for the stupid drunk Mexicans at the ball game who perfected the "f" word and spilt beer on Brandon (lets just say Lacey wasn't to happy with that). Our good friends the Francoms and the Phillipenass went down too. Its always fun going on vacations with good company. Hopefully this was the first of a few trips this summer. Maybe we'll go camping next.

Happy Mother's Day to all the amazing Mothers out there!

This is a day that I dread every year, but I am thankful to all of you Mother's who are wonderful examples to me and I know one day I will get to enjoy the title of Mother.

Our First 5 Years of Forever!!

Brandon and I hit our 5 year mark of marriage on March 25! It has been an amazing, fun, trying, growing together and learning 5 years. We have been through some things we never thought we'd have to deal with, had some Awesome vacation, watched some highs and lows of Brandon's coaching adventures, lost some very important family members and young friends/ students. We have grown closer together and have learned that TOGETHER we can make it through anything!!! We are excited to see what the next 5+ years has to bring us.

Brandon: I love you more than you will ever know. Thanks for sticking by me and being there with me through my lowest times. I love you so much and am thankful for amazing man you are. Thanks for all you do for me. I love you Babe!!!

Remember my post about patience? Well we decided to test it out with this:

Meet Bruiser!! He a 9 week old Maltese and they say he will only get to be about 3lbs!! So far he has been a great dog. We have had him for a week and it has been an adjustment. I'm not really a dog person but i just love little Bruiser!

2010

Everywhere in nature we are taught the lessons of patience and waiting. We want things a long time before we get them, and the fact that we want them a long time makes them all the more precious when they come.
~Joseph F. Smith
Patience: What Im hoping to learn this year.

Christmas 2009

Christmas this year was a hard but good one being the first Christmas year without Grandma. We all had a wonderful time being with family and doing what Grandma would have wanted us to do.
Breakfast was really hard for me this year. I took my Grandmas place and helped my mom cook the ebelskivers. I know Grandma was right there helping us and adding her special touch to everything.

Then there was this. This was my Grandmas that her brother brought back from his mission in New Zealand. It is small neck pendant in the form of a human fetus, used by the Maori of New Zealand as a fertility symbol. Usually carved of green nephrite or a jade like stone called pounamu that is found along the western coast of the South Island, hei tikis normally are worn only by women. The object is believed to possess magical powers that increase as it is passed on from generation to generation. Aunt Tami happened when this was given to Grandma! With what Brandon and I are going through, Grandpa thought it should go to us, and no one else wants the "powers" of it right now!
On the 26th Brandon's parents took us all to see the Lion King. It was AMAZING!! We loved it. I didn't take any pictures but when I get copies I'll post them.
Thanks to all for our families for a wonderful Christmas and all the memories that were made. We love you all!!
